Bill Withers was a modest, gentle, and yet towering musical figure
responsible for some of the most important, universally known soul hits ever
written.
It's no wonder that "Just the Two of Us" and "Ain't No Sunshine" won him two Grammy awards and undoubtedly played a huge role in getting him inducted into both the Songwriters and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Still Bill is Withers' third studio album and continues to showcase his remarkable versatility, touching upon smooth Philly soul, funk, blues and 70s folk slash singer/ songwriter. Upon release the record was both a commercial and critical success and is considered a landmark 1970s R&B record. It features the hit singles "Lean on Me" and "Use Me", as well as "Who Is He (And What Is He to You)?" appearing on the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown. Unsurprisingly, next to Just As I Am, this record also made it into Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, coming in at #333.
