Savage, Conway - Too Dark To See

The Conway Savage Too Dark To See anthology gathers together recordings that trace this remarkable arc: from the intimate and elegiac to the wry, unguarded and quietly transcendent.

From 1993 onwards Savage released acclaimed solo work that privileged atmosphere, storytelling and emotional truth over polish, and exhibited a lo-fi haunted quality, with sparse songs echoing with country, blues and folk. 

The anthology is not simply a retrospective but a carefully assembled narrative. It's one that honours Conway Savage not only as a member of The Bad Seeds, but as a deeply influential songwriter whose work continues to ripple through Australia’s musical and cultural identity. 

It came about as a result of fellow former Bad Seed and Conway collaborator Mick Harvey approaching Impressed Recordings on behalf of Conway’s family, enquiring if the label would be interested in creating a record that would honour Conway’s legacy. It's an honour to be able to do so.
