Radio Dept., The - Pet Grief (20th Anniversary Edition)

We’ve gone gaga for this glorious 20th anniversary Dinked Archive edition of Radio Dept’s 2006 classic Pet Grief!

For their second record, the Swedish dream poppers shifted away from their distortion-heavy, reverb-soaked sound, bringing a cleaner, pop-focused approach to an album that looked grief in the eye and refused to look away.

But what initially seemed like a very pop record later revealed itself as something calmer, mellower and sadder, built from soft-focus synthesisers, programmed rhythms, piano, strings and guitars allowed to shimmer rather than overwhelm.

The Malmo-based band are absolutely one of the most revered cult bands out there; once you’ve heard this record, you’ll fall head over heels for it. Full of shimmering air, there is some serious magic going on.
