Perry, Lee 'Scratch' - The Wonderman Years Vol. 1 (Black Friday 2026)

Before becoming one of dub’s most influential architects, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry was already transforming Jamaica into a limitless sonic laboratory. This outstanding collection brings together twenty-three recordings from the golden age of roots reggae and the birth of dub experimentation. Junior Byles, Big Youth, Dennis Alcapone, Augustus Pablo and the Upsetters all converge in a vibrant mix of vocal cuts, DJ versions, heavyweight rhythms and fearless studio innovation. Tracks such as Beat Down Babylon, Place Called Africa and Give Me Power capture the creative energy of an era when Perry was constantly redefining the possibilities of reggae music. Long unavailable on vinyl, this essential set finally receives the deluxe treatment it deserves, featuring the original and iconic Wonderman comicbook cover artwork, an OBI side strip, printed inner sleeves with exclusive liner notes, and two stunning comicbookinspired vinyl colours: INFINITE RUBY and CELESTIAL BLUE. A fascinating journey into the boundless imagination of a true musical visionary and pioneer.
