Pearl & The Oysters - Monkey Mind

Though sunny on the surface, the album was written and recorded in the wake of the devastating LA fires of 2025 and Trump’s second inauguration.


Monkey Mind is named after the Buddhist concept of a restless, looping consciousness – the duo drew on their own “monkey minds” to write the album in a matter of weeks, using music as a way to process their worry.


After years of building their own intricate, home-recorded worlds, P&TO worked with producer, Jonathan Rado, recording straight to tape with minimal overdubs and working with their musical family of LA musicians. The result is looser and more grounded in the present moment than anything they’ve done before.
