Sixth album from uncompromising art-rock maverick malcontents, The Neutrinos.
Much of the album reflects their growing frustration, around the perils we face from climate destabilisation - that great, indifferent system error creeping upon the biosphere - and the ongoing search for solutions. This apocalyptic creeping dread is strongly reflected throughout the lyrics, coming on like intercepted, heavily coded manifestos of concerned climatologists. "We don't need a future that puts the soil in the hands of the worst of our kind." From Pass it On.
The music itself is a dizzying, schizoid assemblage, encompassing irrepressible grooves - the kind that recall fleeting moments of post-war, pre-anxiety bliss in some forgotten dance hall - and grinding rockers set to raise the dead. These are interspersed with occasional, unnervingly still forays into pin-drop quiet laments, whispered confessions, compelling the listener to swoon with a mixture of existential despair and genuine aesthetic pleasure.
