Monk, Thelonious - Genius of Modern Music, Vol. 2 (1947-52) (Classic Vinyl Series)

Jazz legend, Thelonious Monk, made his earliest recordings as a leader for Blue Note in 1947 and, over the next five years, Alfred Lion recorded the pianist in a variety of settings, documenting his utterly unique music.

The 1956 12” compilation, Genius of Modern Music, Vol. 2 (BLP 1511), featured classic Monk compositions including ‘Straight No Chaser’, ‘Four In One’, and ‘Monk’s Mood’.
