Following the success of their debut album, ‘God’s Own Medicine’, The Mission expanded their sound with a collection of epic, emotionally charged songs that combined soaring melodies, dramatic atmospherics and arena-sized ambition.
In 1987 The Mission enlisted Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones to produce their second studio album, ‘Children’, engineered by Mark 'Spike' Stent. The Children Play world tour, included a seven-night residency at the London Astoria where John Paul Jones made a guest appearance on keyboards alongside additional shows with Robert Plant, the first dates the band played in Latin America, and a small tour of Japan ending with an eight-date arena tour of the UK.
Children helped establish The Mission as one of the most influential bands of their generation and stands as a cornerstone of the late-'80s gothic and alternative rock scene.
