Released in 1990, Carved In Sand captured The Mission at the height of their creative and commercial powers.
Having played a number of European festivals supporting the Cure in 1989 the band embarked on a low-key Scottish Highlands tour followed later that year by a headline appearance at the Reading Festival, before returning to the studio to complete the album.
Released in February 1990, Tim Palmer was re-enlisted to produce the record, while Reeves Gabrels, Baluji Shrivastav, and Guy Chambers also made contributions.
