Freddie McGregor's Showcase album, released in 1981 and known in the UK as 'Lover's Rock Showcase Jamaica Style', marked a pivotal moment in the singer's career
Prior to this, McGregor had enjoyed only modest success, though his work, crafted with various producers, had consistently showcased a talented artist with an authentic voice. A major turning point came in 1979 when he teamed up with producer Winston "Niney" Holness to create the acclaimed 'Mr. McGregor' album. That record signifcantly boosted his profle.
