Lowe, Brigid - The Bloody Branch

Three figures step forward from the mist of Britain’s oldest story: a queen risen from slavery, a sorceress of the moon and an unwilling wife conjured from flowers. Their fates are bound together by the cruelty of a magician whose hunger scars the land. The Bloody Branch retells Goewin, Arianrhod and Blodeuwedd’s story from the inside, revealing an epic not of male conquest but of women’s transformation. They may suffer alone but they will fight back together. Brigid Lowe’s dark and sensuous reimagining of the founding epic of Wales – The Mabinogion – casts ancient light on desire, sex and nature, as her heroines blossom into fierce new life.
