Released to coincide with their first shows in more than a decade, ‘Shimmer’ is the startling comeback single from Belfast-based indie dreampop outfit Language of Flowers.

After signing to Portland’s Shelflife Records on the basis of a four-track demo in 2003, Language of Flowers went on to become a much-loved staple of the London indie scene. Their debut album ‘Songs About You’ received critical acclaim, with reviews noting the band's classic influences from bands such as the Field Mice and Heavenly, as well as the Smiths, Comet Gain, the Go-Betweens and Lush. The band went their separate ways in 2007, albeit reuniting on occasion for a few intermittent shows in the early 2010s.

However, after last year’s successful re-release for ‘Songs About You’ via Daydream Records, Language of Flowers started writing again, with more of an emphasis on their dreampop leanings.

A new album is expected in 2027, but first comes the hazy, atmospheric ’Shimmer’, the first offering in a new transatlantic collaboration between Shelflife and Precious Recordings of London. It features artwork by Bren Sweeney plus one of the late Bentley Cooke’s demos for the never- released second album on the B-side.
