On Pär-Ola Landin's third album on El Dingo Records, he explores, together with his - to say the least - well-renowned trio, the song material from his first two albums; "Loner" and "Inblick". A magical evening at the Umeå Jazzclub, captured here on tape by one of Sweden's best live sound engineers, Daniel Nygaard.
The trio consists of three of its generation's most well renowned musicians, who have played together in a variety of contexts over three decades. They master the entire musical palette and together create music that is often beautiful, but which is also always rooted in captivating swing and creative flow. It is music that comes best into its own in front of an audience and we here get a rare insight into how improvisers at the highest level work together and thrive in each other's company.
With a close interaction, lightning-fast communication and a willingness to explore the boundaries of music together with musical soul mates, they take the listener on a musical journey they won’t forget easily. It is contemporary jazz with clear Nordic roots, but with broad influences from other music and the members' collective experiences, from many years of touring with some of the Sweden’s most interesting musicians and groups.
Pär-Ola Landin is one of Sweden’s most sought-after bass players who has been playing behind many of our most creative and popular jazz stars such as; Georg Riedel, Fredrik Ljungkvist, Joakim Milder, Ann-Sofie Söderkvist, as well as Swedish folk musicians like Ale Möller and Lena Willemark.
Jonas Östholm (piano) and Jon Fält (drums) hardly need any further introduction. They have toured around the world with prominent jazz musicians such as Bobo Stenson, Anders Jormin, Tomasz Stanko, Rigmor Gustavsson, Fredrik Ljungkvist to name a few.
