"London’s Gate Loops collective mix a whole array of voices, tape loops and improvised electronics into spirited performances where experimentation, collabs and gleeful mischief are all part of the fun" - Electronic Sound
Gate Loops is an experimental sound collective from The Gate in Shepherd’s Bush, London.
The project began as a way to have fun and mess around with sound and tape rather than make conventional music — but always with the sense of humour the group share. It is built around a loose structure developed during a series of workshops. Using noise boxes, tape loops, loop pedal, laptop, a few instruments and their voices, this is a document of a mix of loops captured during drop-in workshops, an edit of their performance from Café OTO in July 2025 and some rehearsals leading up to their second gig there in May 2026.
The Gate is an arts space for adults with learning disabilities based in Shepherd’s Bush, West London. We’ve been running for over twenty years and have a freeform, collective approach to exploring art with our members. People are free to express themselves creatively in any manner they choose to, but we also provide a space where people hang out, meet, form friendships, and find support in navigating the system.
We think there should be a Gate for everyone, on every street corner.
