The Scottish singer embraced the folk-music boom during the sixties that swept both England and America. He reached international fame by the age of eighteen.

In 1965, Fairytale was released, his second studio album which planted the seed of what was yet to come. It foreshadowed the jazzy feel and descriptions of life in urban London that Donovan would continue to explore over the next two years.
