When saxophonist, Lou Donaldson, hooked up with the funky drummer, Idris Muhammad, on Alligator Bogaloo, it began a run of great groove-oriented albums, including 'Say It Loud' with trumpeter, Blue Mitchell, organist, Charles Earland, and guitarist, Jimmy Ponder, for a deeply soulful set opening with a cover of James Brown’s ‘Say It Loud (I’m Black and I’m Proud)’.
