New Orleans girl group, the Dixie Cups, follow their Red Bird hits (including 'Iko Iko') with their first release for ABC, 'Two-Way-Poc-A-Way' – another Mardi Gras-styled track, even more steeped in native New Orleans rhythms
Deemed 'too way-out' at the time and missed the charts, but its deep rhythms and echoing vocals later earned it cult 'classic' status among collectors and DJs
Flip side 'What Kind Of Fool' (not the Tams song) is a lovely mid-tempo soul song that was oddly only issued in the UK, as an HMV 45 – it never even made the US ABC album
