Dan Romer’s score for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is undoubtedly one of the year’s finest.

This Emmy-nominated score is intimate, beautiful, and emotionally resonant in a way that few television scores of recent years have achieved.

Heavily influenced by the spaghetti western scores of Ennio Morricone as well as the medieval folk music that inspired the show, Romer trades in the grandiose orchestrations of Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon for a sparser (but no less spectacular) soundscape that features plucked guitar strings, fiddles, and plenty of whistling.

As a result, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms establishes itself as its own unique musical entity.
