Shika Shika presents the fifth volume in their Guide to the Birdsong series, this time taking the song of endangered birds to the dancefloor.
This new chapter of the long-running project that works with renowned artists and producers to turn endangered birdsong into music. This time, tracks from previous Birdsong albums are reimagined by a global line-up of forward-thinking electronic artists, including Auntie Flo, Photay, Matias Aguayo, Yosi Horikawa, Tayhana and El Búho, transforming the calls, rhythms and atmospheres of threatened bird species into a new remix album.
The idea is simple and unique: take music made from and inspired by the songs of endangered birds, and invite some of the most distinctive voices in contemporary electronic music to reinterpret it.
The result is a record that moves between experimental club music, organic electronica, Latin American underground sounds, downtempo, field-recording-led production and global dance music, all rooted in the natural world.
